On 5th July, I decided not to head to Malton Show and instead went to the beach with Bow. See photos below. We enjoyed a paddle in the sea, a gallop on the sand... but missed our lemon top icecream as the icecream van had shut up shop by the time we got back to the horsebox! I do think the experience was very positive for Bow and he was very well behaved for his first beach trip.
I am looking forward to doing some more inhand showing with Bow this month too. We had another dressage lesson this month and he is really getting the hand of leg yielding now! We have a few tests planned for August. See photo below:
On 26th July, I took Talisker Bow Bells to Mill House EC and he finished 2nd in both Intro A and Intro B. I am really enjoying collecting points for the dressage performance awards. After dressage, I dashed to Lady Swinton's Highland Pony stud visit at Masham. It was a super afternoon and great to see some of the ponies that I saw 15 years ago when I last visited! It was also a lovely surprise to see foal photos of my pony of fourteen years, Goldcrest Of Dykes. Lady Swinton has asked me to ride Magnus of Dykes at NPS Area 4, which I am very excited about! I have admired this stallion all year at shows when watching him perform inhand. Please see photos below from the stud visit:
Good luck to all my showing friends who are competing at RIHS this week! I was pleased to qualify for RIHS 3 times this season but won't be heading down to ride this year.
