I decided to close 2014 by getting back on the gallops for the first time since October 2013, which I really enjoyed - but realised how unfit I was after turning to jelly afterwards! I rode 3 lots including my favourite - The Blue Banana pictured below.
I also had another lovely surprise to start the new year with. Maureen has finished her beautiful gift of an oil painting of Stevey and I. Please see my links page if you would like to contact Maureen regarding her art work.
I also made the slightly brave and slightly crazy decision to tick another challenge from my bucket list and enter the Great North Run. I have started training already, as I think it will take me 9 months to prepare... and more!! I will be running the race for charity - details of how to sponsor me to be announced after my place has been confirmed.
Bow has finally started his ridden work after clipping off the thickest winter coat I have ever seen! He was an angel to clip. I have managed to get on him five times in January - it has been a slow process with snow and dark nights but he has taken to his ridden work so well and has enjoyed a little trot and our first canter out hacking. I did treat him to a dressage saddle - something I have always wanted. We are aiming to do some dressage in a few months time.
I am also really excited to have my best friend, Rachel McDermott, joining me in DIY livery at the yard where I keep Bow with her new loan pony Llanarth Dyson, who I will be riding in some ridden classes this season. We enjoyed a nice day out to the new Robinsons store at Leeds to get some new things for him.
